9×7 graphite sketch of Kh. Nora with son Maximos.

Mother’s day was lovely this year. My mom and dad came into town today from Tulsa, and they grabbed the kids to take them to the beach for a couple of nights. Good timing! I have lots of work to do. I will be heading to T’s garage, my new studio, this week to finish this painting:

I also hope to start on some new oil paintings and perhaps finish 2 other portraits that have been put on the backburner for years. I have one painting of Miles that is 3 years old and not finished.
So I have a lot to do. School ends soon, and my husband will take over the role of “mom” and allow me to work full time. The month of June will be spent in New York City as I take a drawing course at The Grand Central Academy of Art. We are going to sell our Stella scooter to pay for the trip. This should be a good investment. I need to improve my drafting skills and learn to draw the human figure better. The classes at the atelier are tough, and the materials list included:
Paper (Strathmore or Bristol pad with plate or vellum finish)
Pencils (HB, 2H, 4H, 6H)
Kneaded eraser
Exacto knife and sand paper for sharpening pencils
Patience
In the words of Milton Glaser, “Art is work.” I think I am in for it.

Stella is back on the market after years of scarcity. New scooters are available in Chicago. Check out the Genuine Scooter website.
I am hoping to learn to ride our Stella in the next few months. Can you believe that we have had the Stella for over a year and I have only ridden on it once? My excuse is that I was pregnant. It just did not seem like a good idea. Now I am ready to ride.
